like any other fine material, it can be damaged if abused or mistreated.
Reviewing the following information and cleaning instructions will assist
you in understanding how easy it is to care for your new Pinnacle solid
surface product and prevent severe damage that may require special repairs.
Everyday Cleaning
- Wipe surface with a damp cloth or sponge.
- Basic stains: Clean with detergents or general-purpose cleaners.
- Periodically go over the entire surface with an
abrasive cleanser like Soft Scrub™ or a wet, gray colored, Scotch Brite™ pad
to maintain a uniform appearance.
Persistent Stain
- To remove persistent stains, cigarette burns, or scratches: Scrub
with an abrasive cleanser like Soft Scrub™ and a wet, gray colored,
Scotch Brite™ pad.
Simple Steps To Avoid Damage
- Avoid cutting on the product – use a cutting
board
- It is not recommended to place hot pans directly on the product.
Even though the product can withstand temperatures up to 350 F, prolonged
or extreme heat can cause yellowing. Ask your fabricator for a trivet
sized piece of Pinnacle solid surface for your use.
- For additional assurance and protection, use a trivet under any heat
producing appliance, such as fryers, crock-pots, and coffee pots. Some
appliances produce extreme heat that can damage your countertop.
- Strong acids, such as those found in drain cleaners should be wiped
up at once. Some of these items, when left on the surface, may cause
whitening, which can be difficult to remove.
Deep Scratches
- Carefully sanding with 120-grit sandpaper, followed by 220-grit and
finishing with 320-grit sandpaper can remove deep scratches or cuts.
- Complete repair by rubbing the surface with a
wet, gray colored, Scotch Brite™ pad in a circular motion to
restore the matte finish.
IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO YOUR PINNACLE SOLID
SURFACE PRODUCT – CONTACT THE ORIGINAL INSTALLER TO DETERMINE THE

SOLID SURFACE SINKS MAINTENANCE
Care, Maintenance and Cleaning of Your Solid Surface Sink
Refer to our care and maintenance instructions for our solid surface
sheet goods. The same instructions apply to our sinks with some added
emphasis on the subject of quick temperature changes.
While Solid Surface sinks are extremely tough and durable, like any
fine material it can be damaged if abused or mistreated. Reviewing these
care
and cleaning instructions can assist you in understanding how easy
it is to care for your Solid Surface sink products and how you can prevent
more severe damage that may require professional repairs
Solid surfaces sinks are manufactured with the color and pattern running
throughout its thickness to give it a soft, deep translucency. This
feature allows you to repair minor damages to maintain a like new
appearance indefinitely. No special cleaning products are needed to keep
your
Solid
Surface sink looking beautiful day in and day out.
Solid Surfaces sinks are non-porous so they can be easily wiped clean
with a damp cloth or sponge and mild detergents or general purpose cleaners.
If you have a factory matte finish, abrasive cleaners may also be used.
Periodically, it may also be helpful to go over the entire surface with
an abrasive cleaner or a wet Scotch Brite ® pad to maintain a uniform
appearance.
Strong acids such as those found in drain cleaners, toilet bowl and
oven cleaners should be used cautiously around GEMSTONE Solid Surfaces.
If
these items are accidentally spilled, wipe them up at once, flush with
clear lukewarm water and wipe with a clean sponge.
Some troublesome spills and stains such as food/hair dye, tea and fruit
drinks may require more aggressive cleaning. These items can be removed
with a solution of 50/50 bleach and water allowed to sit for 15 minutes
, drained, and flushed with water. Follow with a general cleaner
and flush with water. On factory matte finish, if you prefer, you can
scrub
with an abrasive cleanser.
Solid Surface will not burn, but should a lighted cigarette accidentally
come in contact with the surface it could leave a nicotine stain or a
scorch mark. Either of these can be removed with an abrasive cleaner
or buffing with a Scotch Brite ® pad.
DO NOT place hot pans directly from the burner or the oven onto the
Solid Surface sink. Even though Solid Surface can withstand sustained
temperatures up to 225o F., prolonged or extreme heat could cause yellowing
and/or cracking. In the bathroom, curling irons, blow dryers, hot rollers,
etc. should not be placed directly in contact with the sink, to prevent
scorching.
DO NOT expose to extreme temperature fluctuations. Boiling water should
be drained into the sink with cold water running. Rapid changes in
water temperature may cause cracking.

sinks. We have gone to great efforts to ensure that your sink, with proper
care and maintenance, will maintain its luster and shine.
CLEANING YOUR STAINLESS STEEL SINK
Gentle, inexpensive, and simple routine cleaning are the keys to maintaining
your new stainless steel sink.
3 Simple Steps in Caring for your Stainless Steel Sink
- Clean regularly with a mild detergent solution and/or clean water
applied with a soft cloth or sponge. Rub gently.
- Rinse and towel
dry after every use (to prevent mineral deposits from building up
on the surface of the sink).
- Deep clean once a week with a recommended
cleanser (be sure to rub in the direction of the finish lines) and
a soft cloth or sponge rather
than an occasional aggressive single cleaning. Cleaners should state “suitable
for stainless steel.”
Some Don’ts:
- Do not use coarse abrasive powders, metallic scourers such
as steel wool or brushes with metal bristles.
- Do not use the so termed “silver cleaners.”
- Do not leave wet sponges, cloths, cleaning pads, rubber
mats or dishpans in the sink. This could lead to surface rust or possible
pitting.
- Do not leave standing solutions of chlorine bleach and water
in the sink for extended periods of time. Always rinse the sink after
using such
solutions.
- Do not allow liquid soap or other cleansers to dry on the
surface of the sink.
Recommended Cleansers:
Use brands that state “suitable for stainless steel.” Inox
crème, Zud, Bar Keepers Friend, and Laurence Right Work are some
of the most effective. Other effective although less aggressive include
Comet, Shiny Sinks Plus, Soft Scrub, and Mr. Clean. For scratches, try
a material call Scotchbrite ® (using very light hand pressure in
the direction of the finish.) Please note: Chlorides are found in most all soap, detergents, bleaches
and cleansers. Chlorides can be harsh on stainless steel, but because
chlorides are very water-soluble they are usually not a problem. THOROUGH
rinsing of your sink after each use to remove any chloride residue and
weekly deep cleaning will keep your sink in excellent condition.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Scratches:
As with most metallic surfaces, your stainless steel sink will get scratches.
These are merely “usage scratches” and over time will blend
in with the overall finish of your sink. However, there are steps that
can be taken to reduce the appearance of scratches. Use a nylon pad (such
as Scotchbrite®) with an iron free abrasive polishing compound. Follow
the direction of the original polish lines and you can blend out the
scratch in a small area. Be careful not to overdo it. If you get too
aggressive, you can’t go back. You will end up with a bright spot.
Water Quality:
Regular routine cleaning can usually prevent lime scale deposits from
hard water. Do not allow excessive build up before treating. Soaking
in a 25% vinegar solution or a 5% nitric acid solution can treat these
hard water spots. Periodically rub with a nylon bristled brush or fine
synthetic scourer pad. Then rise and towel dry.
Rust Marks:
If you develop rust marks due to presence of or contact with ferrous (iron
containing) materials, swab with a sponge wetted with a dilute (10-15%)
solution of nitric acid (HNO3) and follow with routine cleaning. Avoid
prolonged contact of ferrous (i.e. cast iron pans) materials with stainless
steel. Dilute nitric acid in strengths of up to 20%, is a “friendly”
acid to stainless steel. It is the ONLY acid that may be used with no
risk to stainless steel.
HANSTONE FINE QUARTZ SURFACES
Care and Maintenance of your Fine Quartz Surfaces
Introduction
The Natural Beauty of Hanstone™ quartz surfaces is easy to maintain.
The advancement of technology along with the finest natural quartz used
in Hanstone™ creates a surfacing material with all the beauty of
nature without its drawbacks. Hanstone™ is a non-porous material
that is highly stain, scratch, and heat resistant; however, it is not
stain, scratch, or heat proof. Therefore, using common sense and the right
Care & Maintenance can keep your Hanstone™ beautiful for years
to come.
Routine Care and Maintenance
Simply clean up and spills with soap and water. For routine cleaning,
use snall amount of cleaners that are non-bleach and nonabrasive along
with warm water and damp cloth on a regular basis to keep the lustrous
gloss and radiant sheen.
Although Hanstone™ is resistant to stains, any type of spills should
be cleaned as soon as possible. Any liquid spills, fruits, vegetables,
or other foods should be wiped up and cleaned with soap and water.
Preventing Damages
-Heat-
Hanstone™ is designed to be extremely resistant to heat and can
withstand exposure to normal cooking environments for brief periods of
time without being damaged. Although Hanstone™ is more resistant
to heat compared to most of the surfacing materials in the market, all
surfacing materials, including stone, can be damaged by extreme temperature
changes, whether prolonged or sudden. Trivets and hot pads should be used
when placing hot skillets, pans, or other heat generating appliances on
the surface.
-Scratches-
Hanstone's durable surface is designed to withstand the normal use. While
it is resistant to scratches, cuts, and chipping, cutting directly on
Hanstone™ surface should be avoided. Using cutting boards and taking
care not to drop or move heavy objects on the surface will help to ensure
the long-lasting beauty of Hanstone™ Quartz Surface.
-Chemical-
There are some chemicals that can cause damage to Hanstone™ surface.
Avoid exposing Hanstone™ quartz surfaces to any strong chemicals
and solvents. It is important to note some of these chemicals and solvents
can be found in household items like paint removers, paint and stain strippers
that contain trichlorethane or methylene chloride, nail polish removers,
bleach, furniture cleaners, oil soaps, permanent markers or inks, and
chemicals with high alkaline/PH levels (Oven cleaners, Drain Openers,
etc.)
If any of the substances listed come into contact with your Hanstone™
Quartz Surface, rinse with plenty of water and follow routine cleaning
procedures immediately.
Removing Difficult Spills
For stubborn or dried spills, if routine cleaning procedures do not
work, use nonabrasive cleaning pad along with common household cleaners
like Formula 409® Glass and Surface Cleaner*. If gum, nail polish,
paint, or other substances are accidentally allowed to adhere to the surface,
they can be removed with the use of plastic scraper or putty knife to
gently scrape off the substance and by following routine cleaning procedures.
General Precautions
Hanstone™ uses the finest natural quartz and state of the art technologies,
making it among one of nature's hardest surfaces. As a result, Hanstone™
will keep its beauty for years without sealing or polishing. It is also
non-porous, so it won't absorb stains or harbor harmful bacteria. However,
as a general precaution, maintain your Hanstone™ surface by using
trivets and cutting boards to avoid damages caused by extreme heat and
scratches.
